Title: Copywriter & Editor
Department: Marketing & Communications
Reports to: Director of Marketing & Communications
Position Overview: Primary copywriter and editor for JLBC’s Marketing & Communications Department, including the development of collateral for both external and internal initiatives.
Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
- Research, write and disseminate internal and external communications materials, e.g., Connected, the Junior League online newsletter, JLBC Board member and staff speeches and presentations, miscellaneous marketing and communications materials
- Develop and write timely content for www.JLBC.org and www.kidsinthekitchen.org
- Serve as primary JLBC copy editor, maintaining a consistent writing style for all JLBC publications
- Work on special projects as assigned by supervisor
Required Skills and Competencies:
- Strong writing, editing, proofreading and communication skills
- Solid understanding of the marketing/communications profession
- Knowledge of the production process of publications and collateral
- Professional demeanor
- Strong customer service orientation
- Knowledge of and experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Fluency in Spanish a plus
- Flexibility in juggling multiple tasks and taking on varied tasks, often on short notice
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Required Experience and Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in journalism, communications or marketing
- Five-plus years experience writing for Marketing/Communications firm or in the Marketing or Communications department of a company or organization
- Experience in performing website content maintenance
- Personal commitment to voluntarism or experience in a nonprofit organization
