JLBC Position Statements
The Junior League of Battle Creek is committed to ensuring that older
adults have the opportunities and services essential for their physical,
intellectual, emotional, mental, social and economic well-being and will
advocate to see that such opportunities and services exist.

The Junior League of Battle Creek supports and promotes voluntarism as
an essential component of our society and will continue to take action
which will ensure the effectiveness of the voluntary sector.

The Junior League of Battle Creek is committed to ensuring that children
have the opportunities and services essential for their physical,
intellectual, emotional, mental and social growth and will advocate to see
that such opportunities and services are provided.

The Junior League of Battle Creek supports the goal of fair and equal
economic opportunities for women and men and will advocate for the
attainment of this goal.

The Junior League of Battle Creek recognizes that domestic violence is a
major social problem with far-reaching physical, economical and
psychological ramifications. We also recognize that, to arrest the increase
in the incidence of domestic violence and to stop the intergenerational
cycle of abuse, society must understand the problem, act to assist and
protect the victims and attempt to work effectively with the abusers.
Therefore, the Junior League of Battle Creek not only encourages awareness
and education concerning their problems, but also stresses the need for
continued supportive action by the community and the judicial system to aid
and protect the victims of domestic violence.

The Junior League of Battle Creek supports the concept of "above
the line" treatment of charitable deductions with no disqualifying
floor to work as appropriate for the inclusion of such provision in the
U.S. Internal Revenue Code.

The Junior League of Battle Creek supports community education on the issue
of substance use and abuse, as well as improved treatment and prevention
programs and may advocate support of this.

The Junior League of Battle Creek promotes environmental awareness among
the general public and fosters, through education, advocacy, personal
responsibility and action, a safer, cleaner and healthier environment for
our children, ourselves, our communities and future generations.
